Chocolate chips are "optional" |
That right there is a thing of beauty!
I have been thinking about trying my hand at frozen hot chocolate for a while and thought that this is the perfect reason to make some and throw in a splash of Bailey's Irish Cream Liqueur. Along with that, because I am struggling with a serious addiction to chocolate, I made some chocolate whipped cream to top it off!
The chocolate whipped cream is crazy easy to make and is almost no different from a regular homemade whipped cream recipe except that it has cocoa powder in it. I backed off a little on the sugar in my whipped cream, simply because I was making it to top such a decadent drink.
Here is how to make the chocolate whipped cream:
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup- Heavy whipping cream
- 1 Tablespoon- White Sugar
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
Instructions: (optional- chill beaters before beginning)
- Add all 3 ingredients into a medium bowl
- Start mixing using a hand mixer on low speed and slowly work up to medium high speed, scraping sides of bowl occasionally
- Whip until soft peaks form (about 3-5 minutes)- do not over whip the cream or you will have chocolate butter!
All done- fluffy chocolate goodness! |
The frozen hot chocolate was just as easy to make as the whipped cream! I really love recipes that just let you throw everything into one bowl/pot/blender and something else does all the work!
Frozen Bailey's Irish Cream Hot Chocolate- Fills about 4 large cups!
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 Cup- Whole Milk
- 4 Packages instant Hot Cocoa Mix- I used Swiss Miss (4 servings of your favorite hot chocolate mix will do!)
- 4 fl. Ounces (4 shots)- Bailey's Irish Cream Liqueur
- 3 1/2- 4 Cups- Ice
Instructions:
- Place Milk, Hot Chocolate Mix, and Bailey's in blender and blend until mixed
- Pour in ice and blend until smooth and creamy
- Pour into glasses and top with chocolate whipped cream and chocolate chips if desired!
And that's all folks.. So easy and so worth it. This drink taste's just like hot chocolate with Bailey's except it is frozen!
